Kisspeptins are a family of neuropeptides encoded by the KISS1 gene, which produces a precursor protein that is naturally cleaved into several active fragments—including kisspeptin-54, -14, -13, and kisspeptin-10 (KP-10).

Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest of these fragments, yet it retains full bioactivity in scientific settings, making it one of the most widely studied forms. All kisspeptin variants share a highly conserved C-terminal decapeptide sequence (RFa-amide), a structural feature essential to their receptor interactions and functional activity.
